A well-known and interesting museum near Dresden is the Karl May Museum in Radebeul, a community just a few kilometres outside Dresden.
The museum is located in the former home of the famous writer and author of Winnetou and Co. In the house (Karl May already called the house “Villa Shatterhand”) you can visit Karl May’s former flat and study. Another highlight is on the ground floor. The legendary rifles from his books: silver rifle, Henrystutzen and Bärentöter. Another part of the museum is in the garden of the estate. Here is also a nice playground and a cosy snack bar. In another house in the garden called “Villa Bärenfett” there is an exhibition about Indians. There is also a small cinema showing an interesting film.
